train dirty london: skinny rebel workout

Recently, I travelled up to London to try Train Dirty’sSkinny Rebel Workout‘. The workout is held in the gym of the Conrad Hotel St. James with a personal trainer. For my session, I had a 1 to 1 workout with their trainer, Dean.

I love fitness and exercise, and am always looking for new workouts to try – so I really couldn’t wait to try their Skinny Rebel Workout! This workout really pushes you, as you do a full body high intensity session of theirs, while wearing an altitude mask. The purpose of this is to reduce the amount of oxygen available for you to breathe, pushing your body to find different ways to use its energy. It also helps to increase the capacity of your lungs, improve your strength and has many other benefits, which you can read about here.

The session lasts about 45 minutes, and includes a variety of intense exercises – from burpees, to elbow pushups and bear crawls. You can definitely feel the burn! My absolute favourite part of the workout was using the arm rope – as it felt so amazing to do, and my arms really felt the benefit afterwards!

When it came to the final section of the workout, I put on the altitude mask. The length of time that you wear the mask throughout the workout is completely up to you. We decided to save it for the end, when I used the exercise bike. On the bike, I peddled at varying speeds over different periods of time, whilst focusing on my breathing. The mask is what enabled me to focus on my breath – which helped me to keep going through the exercise, and not be so distracted by mind telling me to stop!!! Even though the lack of oxygen makes your body work harder, wearing the mask definitely gives you the determination to push through the workout.

When the bike section was complete, I then cooled down to finish the workout with some final stretches.

I really enjoyed the workout, and definitely felt the benefits of doing it afterwards. My body felt really energised, even though it had done a lot of work. Dean was really encouraging throughout the whole exercise and was lovely to work with. I would 100% recommend the Skinny Rebel Workout for anyone with an interest in health and fitness, as I am sure they would love this session!

  1. This sounds really intense! I’ve never heard of wearing a mask before while working out, but I get the concept that it would force you to work harder, that’s smart! Thanks for sharing your review!

  10. Seconded on the comment on you looking super pretty even while working out! I can’t say the same about my struggle face, hahaha. This looks like an awesome workout–I’ve never tried wearing an altitude mask while working out, but back in the days of exercise biology, we hooked up one of my classmates to different mixtures of gases to see how long he could hold his breath underwater! 😛
