taste test: alpro ice cream

I try not to measure the amount of ice cream I eat during the Summer, as the large quantity is probably pretty shameful. I have a serious love for ice cream, and whenever a new flavour pops up on the market, I definitely have to try it. The amount of new vegan ice creams being brought out now is truly inspiring, and I am so happy to see so many beautiful creations stacked on the shelves of so many stores now.

Recently, Alpro got in touch with me to try their newly launched set of 3 ice cream flavours – which I of course said an immediate yes to. Alpro are one of my favourite plant-based food brands, and I always love their products, so I knew I was going to enjoy their new ice cream range!

Their new flavours are Vanilla, Hazelnut Chocolate and Coconut.

Each of the flavours were so light and silky. The texture was soft and smooth – and they had the perfect consistency, so no one would know that they weren’t eating dairy. For me, the texture of ice cream is very important as it has to be light and fluffy – like gelato, for me to really enjoy it. I found that the Vanilla was my favourite, as its consistency was absolutely perfect and you could really taste the Vanilla which made it so delicious. I enjoyed all of the ice creams, and they each tasted exactly how the flavour was described. I devoured almost half a tub of each of them in one go!

And of course, one of my favourite ways to eat ice cream, is by using it to make cookie sandwiches.. So, if you try some of Alpro’s new flavours – then definitely try making some of these!

cookie ice cream sandwiches

makes 4

ingredients

8 vegan cookies – I used these

4 scoops of Alpro ice cream

4 squares vegan dark chocolate, melted

method

  1. Take a spoonful of ice cream, and place it onto one cookie. Take another cookie and press it down on top of the ice cream. Then, take a spoonful of the dark chocolate, and drizzle it on top. Repeat this process until you have made 4 cookie sandwiches. Serve them immediately or place them into the freezer to firm up for about 5 or so minutes.

  1. I adore ice cream sandwiches! :] This sounds all sorts of amazing–I wanna try the coconut one!

  2. I have an issue with ice cream. I like it a little too much, so much that I had to limit my intake. I stopped eating it a few years ago, but now all of these healthy alternatives are peeking my interest. I need to check out Alpro, I love the fact that it’s plant-based. I want to try the coconut flavor. Thanks for sharing Harriet.

  3. Even I prefer not measuring the amount of ice cream ever. Especially if the flavor of the ice-cream is one of my favorite amongst all the flavors. Thanks for sharing this lovely recipe, Harriet. 🙂

  4. There is a dog food called Alpo. You need to try another name.
