The sun finally appeared again today! After a few days of dark, dull weather, it felt amazing to be able to go out and sit in the sunshine. There’s nothing better than being outside under a blanket of blue sky without a cloud in sight – especially with a fruity, refreshing drink at hand. So, in celebration of todays weather, I thought I’d share with you one of my favourite smoothies. I love kiwi’s and when paired with limes, they create a drink with a nice tropical feel. To add in some greens, I also used my two favourite vegetables for blending and juicing; kale and spinach. They give the drink a nice vitamin boost, and create a rich green colour. Finally, the banana gives the drink a sweet creaminess, and helps to combine all of the flavours together into a smoothie thats fresh and delicious.
kiwi & banana smoothie
1 banana (150g)
¼ cup (10g) kale
¼ cup (10g) spinach
1 kiwi (135g)
½ cup (125ml) water
1 tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice
- Firstly, peel and chop your banana, and then slice the kiwi in half and scoop out the fruit from the inside. Then, add the kiwi and the banana into your blender followed by the kale, spinach, water and lime juice.
- Blend all of the ingredients together until smooth, and then pour into a glass to serve.
