hot spiced cacao + chocolate making
Happy Full Moon! Today is Friday 13th and a Full Moon in Pisces – which means it’s the perfect time to snuggle in with a hot cup of cacao, meditate, connect to your inner landscape and reflect on the year so far. Hasn’t 2019 just flown by? I feel like I blinked and suddenly awoke into September.
Over the last few months I have been sharing small gatherings under full moons and new moons where a few of us would gather to meditate, unwind, experience some sound healing and engage in different crafting practices such as candle making, smudge stick making, and most recently cacao and chocolate making.
For my cacao gathering, I teamed up with Buy Wholefoods Online – which was the perfect synchronistic opportunity as they reached out to me just as I was planning my cacao event. They kindly supplied me with chocolate making ingredients in time for my event. I’ve always used their products when making chocolate – since the very first batch I created 5 years ago – so it was wonderful to collaborate with them and make chocolates with lovely people on this special evening.
If you want to make chocolates like these, you can try my recipe here.
The evening was a very chocolate filled event, and as well as eating these decadent star shaped treats, we also drank lots of beautiful, heart warming cups of cacao blended with chilli, cinnamon, rose, orange and vanilla. Below is a recipe I have created for it so you can try it for yourself at home! Enjoy.
hot spiced cacao
serves 1
ingredients
1 tsp coconut oil – I used Buy Wholefoods Online
1 tbsp agave nectar
2 tsp cacao powder – I used Buy Wholefoods Online
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
pinch chilli powder
1/2 tsp orange oil
2 tbsp rose water
1/2 cup (125ml) water
method
- Add the coconut oil into a pan on a medium heat to melt. Then, add in the agave nectar, cacao powder, cinnamon and chilli. Mix together until smooth.
- Next, add in the orange oil and rose water. Stir together. Then, add in the water in parts, stirring together as you pour it in so that everything blends together. Once everything is smooth and well mixed, keep on the heat until the drink has reached your desired temperature.
- When this is done, remove the cacao from the heat, pour into a mug and serve.
I love those cacao butter drops! Homemade chocolate must be really good.
