crystalised ginger, cinnamon & chocolate granola

Granola is one of my favourite things to make for breakfast, as I love all of the different flavour combinations you can mix together into a delicious bowl of oats. When I make granola from scratch, I like to create some really flavourful combinations – like my coconut and apricot granola, or my cacao and cinnamon. So, when Flahavan’s sent me some of their beautiful oats to try, I knew it was time for me to create a new and exciting granola recipe.

For this recipe, I decided to make a really luxurious granola and combine some of my favourite ingredients together to do so. Firstly, I made a beautiful maple granola mix with cinnamon – combining oats with coconut butter, maple syrup, cinnamon and a pinch of salt. Then, I baked it in the oven, waited it for it to cool, and added in the decadence. To my maple granola, I added in cubes of crystallised ginger, dark chocolate, hazelnuts, walnuts and chopped dates. Then, I simply stirred everything together to finish this luxurious tasting recipe. It’s such an easy granola to make, and it’s ready to eat in no time.

Its delicious flavours will add the perfect touch of richness to your morning breakfast, and will definitely leave you ready for the day ahead.

crystalised ginger, cinnamon & chocolate granola

serves 6


2 cups (200g) Flahavan’s rolled oats

2 tbsp tiana’s cooking coconut butter

3 tbsp maple syrup

1/2 tsp cinnamon

pinch salt

1/2 cup (70g) hazelnuts

1/2 cup (90g) dark chocolate chunks

3/4 cup (160g) crystallised ginger

1/4 cup (40g) chopped dates

1/4 cup (35g) chopped walnuts




  1. Firstly, add the coconut butter into a pan and place it onto a low heat to melt. Then, add it into a large mixing bowl with the oats, maple syrup, cinnamon and salt. Stir everything together until it is well mixed.
  2. Next, pour the granola mixture evenly onto a baking tray lined with baking parchment. Add the granola into the oven to cook for about 10-12 minutes until golden.
  3. When the granola has cooked, remove it from the oven and set it aside to cool completely. In a separate bowl, add the crystallised ginger, chocolate, hazelnuts, walnuts and dates. When the granola has cooled, pour it into the bowl, and gently stir everything together so that it’s evenly mixed.
  4. Lastly, pour the granola into a jar/airtight container to store it between servings.

  2. OHMYGOSH this sounds soooo good! Granola is one of my favorite things in life and crystallized ginger IN the granola just takes it to a new level of deliciousness. And any time I can work some chocolate into my breakfast I’m a happy camper :).

  3. I haven’t made granola in awhile and I’m not to sure why. I usually eat oatmeal for breakfast but the texture is starting to bother me. I’m a huge fan of crystalized ginger and dark chocolate, I have a sneaky feeling you created this recipe just for me Harriet. 🙂
