It’s only recently that I started to learn about yoga. I’ve always admired the practice, and peoples ability to twist and turn into so many amazingly complex poses like Yoganidrasana (yoga sleep pose) or Gandha Bherundasana (formidable face pose). Although there’s much more to it than becoming bendy, achieving those poses are definitely something I one day aspire to be able to achieve! Yoga is something that I have instantly fallen in love with, and with so many types out there to try, the journey into it feels endless.
I’ve really began to enjoy practicing Kundalini yoga, and I’ve also tried Vinyasa before. However, I’ve become so fascinated by yoga in general, that I want to keep learning more about the different types. So recently, I met up with Jo, a Hatha Yoga instructor, who introduced me to this practice and explained it to me in more depth. Hatha yoga focuses on the breathing consciously while moving the body, to help to develop the mind and relax. Each class focuses on stretching the body in each way, to help even out and balance your body. The feeling of relaxation I felt after the class was amazing, and Jo also recites her own meditation at the end of each session, which completely calms and settles your mind.
It was amazing to experience this practice, and I thought I would share with you some of my favourite poses that I tried. Of course, I am only a beginner, so my posture isn’t perfect! Each pose was guided by an instructor, and if you are interested in trying Hatha yoga, then I recommend you practice with a teacher, or search online to try a class with a professional.
Balasana – Childs Pose
Purvottanasana – Upward Plank Pose
Virabhadrasana II – Warrior 2

It was so great to try out this style of yoga! If you are based in the UK and would be interested in more information on classes with Jo, you can email her at firstname.lastname@example.org
